Developement of a white toadlet:

There were approx. 4 white tadpoles between the many hundereds of tadpoles. Only one white tadpole managed to survive and at the beginning needed much longer for developement.

When most juveniles left the water the white tadpole still had no hind legs. But after further keeping it together with only 3 other poor developped tadpoles developement made great progress.

2 weeks later also the white tadpole metamorphosed.

As the normal coloured juveniles after metamorphosis were light coloured now there was no much difference between the white toadlet and the normal coloured ones.

Some weeks later colour of the normal juveniles started to become darker but the white toadlet kept its light colour. As the white one was a very greedy eater it soon nearly reached size of the other young.

At an age of approx. 3 months also the white toad developped the big vocal sac typical for male Bufo speciosus and nuptial pads.
